Forma Q & A

What is Forma?

Forma uses radiofrequency technology for painless skin tightening. The noninvasive Forma treatment stimulates natural collagen and elastin growth in your dermal skin layer. Collagen is a fibrous protein that keeps your skin firm, and elastin keeps your skin flexible.

Your body makes collagen and elastin, but once you’re an adult, usually around age 25, you start to lose these proteins. Later in life, collagen and elastin levels decline faster.

During Forma treatment, radiofrequency energy heats the skin layer where you make collagen and elastin, which stimulates the remodeling (new growth) process.

Forma is a gentle treatment, with many people saying it feels like a hot stone massage on the face. Your Southern California Multi-Speciality Center provider can adjust the heat intensity for your comfort, especially in more delicate areas.

What areas does Forma treat?

Forma is ideal for aging skin, volume loss, and skin laxity. The main areas that Forma treats include:

  • Forehead
  • Upper and lower eyelids (including under-eye area)
  • Nasolabial folds (smile lines)
  • Jowls
  • Neck

Before your Forma treatment, you’ll discuss your specific concerns and wishes so your provider can concentrate treatment in the areas where you need it.

When will I see results from Forma treatment?

You’ll see immediate results after your first Forma treatment. Forma results improve with each treatment, so most people have a series of weekly treatments until they reach their desired appearance. Once you’ve reached your treatment goals, periodic maintenance treatments can help you preserve your appearance long-term.

How does Forma compare to Morpheus8?

Forma uses radiofrequency energy to encourage collagen and elastin remodeling, while Morpheus8 uses both radiofrequency energy and microneedling to achieve those goals.

While both treatments are an effective way to tighten the skin, Forma might not have as dramatic results as Morpheus8 because it’s a completely noninvasive technology. In general, Forma treatment is best for people who want a no-downtime treatment and who can commit to weekly treatments over as long as a few months to get their desired outcome.

Morpheus8 treatments are best for people who want dramatic results, and who are willing to have a few days of downtime. In general, Morpheus8 requires fewer treatments (usually around three treatments, one month apart).
